[14:15:07] <Wudan> last night i hacked out a way to move in the direction of the user's right click regardless of the camera rotation
[14:32:25] <abp> hooray for quaternions!
[14:39:51] <abp> (or did you use something else?)

[18:13:05] <Wudan> abp, i just changed the logic a bit of how the right click held down stuff works, basically just rotated the mouse position by the same amount that the view itself is rotated
[18:13:34] <Wudan> so the core logic of making the avatar move is untouched, only the input was tweaked
[18:33:35] <abp> simple and direct. Good :)
[18:33:54] <abp> I had a look at the exult3d code and spoke to sam...uhm...almost 2 years ago now
[18:34:01] <abp> and the 3d part sounded very hackish
[18:38:04] <Wudan> basically the map is passed to the window manager the same, but the new scaler 'OpenGL' handles the info very differently.
[18:38:44] <Wudan> the 3d part is very hackish, it is true
[18:38:44] <abp> that part is very good
[18:39:02] <abp> makes the 3d rendering "transparent", a real new layer over the rest of the engine
[18:39:05] <abp> easily updatable
[18:39:11] <Wudan> right, basically a true scaler
[18:39:23] <Wudan> well, not 'true'
[18:39:32] <Wudan> but it is just there as a transparent layer, like you said
[18:39:55] <abp> it's the implementation of said layer that's spaghetti code :)
