[01:50:30] <sbx> hi Baastuul
[01:50:58] <Baastuul> Ezz Beigh Ecksorz
[01:54:53] <sbx> I'm not sure what language that is.
[01:55:06] <sbx> but... close enough
[02:42:59] <Baastuul> HARPY NJOO YURRRR
[03:16:12] --- Baastuul_ is now known as Baastuul

[05:01:06] <servus> I'm alive!
[05:01:58] <shazza> oh my god
[05:02:02] <shazza> :P
[05:07:11] <servus> I'm looking at Exult3D, and I'm just not sure where to go from here. I feel like I've pushed the Exult engine to its limits -- it's really not meant to be a "real-time" game in the true sense of the word. I feel like I'd have to just entirely recreate so much of the game -- which is so intertwined in the other parts -- to get where I want to go.
[05:07:57] <shazza> hmm
[05:08:08] <shazza> so it might not even happen :\ ?
[05:10:22] <servus> Oh the game is entirely completable in 3D mode.
[05:10:42] <shazza> i see
[05:10:44] <servus> It's just a little slow as it is, and 3D models just slow it down...
[05:11:09] <shazza> my computer probably won't even be able to handle it
[05:11:16] <shazza> slow piece of crap
[05:11:18] <servus> I want to do it -- but the 'right way'; something extraordinary!
[05:11:20] <shazza> 14OS:04(Windows 98 4.d (Build #10)04) 15¤ 14Up:04(2h 25m 40s04) 15¤ 14CPU:04(1 CPU - AMD K6-2, 302.51 MHz, (1314014539% Load)04) 15¤ 14Mem:04(Usage: 127/128MB (99.22%)04) 15/ 04(4|4|4|4|4|4|4|4|4|4|04) 15¤ 14HD:04(14Total/Free: 4.0115/0.86GB04)
[05:11:24] <shazza> :(
[05:12:04] <servus> Yeah, it has a lot to do with the game relying on a timer. I'm pretty sure we could completely disentangle the graphics code from that timer, but... it's tangled. If one of the core programmers wants to help me out, I'm sure we could make a lot of progress :-)
[05:13:51] <shazza> hmm
[05:17:19] <shazza> so i assume you haven't got a clue when a beta will be out :P
[05:19:51] <servus> I released Linux/Windows binaries and the source, but I don't know if I'd consider it "fun" :-)
[05:20:25] <shazza> lol
[05:20:36] <shazza> i'll check it out
[05:22:29] <shazza> where can i get it
[05:24:24] <servus> Source or binary?
[05:24:50] <shazza> binary
[05:25:14] <servus> I'm on Linux right now, lemme see...
[05:29:23] <shazza> k
[05:31:02] <servus> Source: http://24.205.120.21:81/files/exult-dec-31-2004.tar.bz2
[05:31:22] <servus> That address should be valid 'til my power goes out again.
[05:31:32] <shazza> isn't that for linux
[05:31:37] <shazza> ?
[05:31:41] <shazza> @_@
[05:32:13] <servus> It's just source. I haven't started looking for that Windows binary yet. I'm not sure what you'll get, because I'd have to log onto windows to test it :-)
[05:33:03] <shazza> lol k
[05:36:07] <servus> So, now that I'm here for the first time in 50 years, where are the engine coders so I can pick their brains about detaching the graphics from the engine timer without screwing up the rest of the game, because so far, everything I've done to that effect has... screwed up the rest of the game :-)
[05:36:39] <shazza> dead
[05:37:51] <servus> That's not nice.
[05:38:11] <shazza> by dead i mean idle
[05:38:15] <shazza> :\
[05:41:22] <servus> I'm trying to see which binary is the correct one, but it crashes Wine :P
[05:44:31] <servus> Oh well, try this one and tell me if it crashes :P http://24.205.120.21:81/files/Exult-Dec-31-2004.exe

[23:13:26] <servus> Hello SBX.
[23:27:25] <sbx> Hello.
[23:37:53] <servus> What's new with Exult?
[23:38:32] <sbx> Don't ask me.
[23:38:47] <sbx> You working on any new 3D projects?
[23:42:29] <servus> Same one as before, and it's looking pretty good (imho)
[23:43:23] <servus> Going through all the 3D stuff in Exult, and it's all pretty much a hack and I don't think I like it much. If I want to do what I had in mind, I'd have to rewrite big parts of it so that I don't try to fit into the Exult graphics model that's already there as much... that way I have the flexibility to take a new direction with things
[23:46:19] <sbx> Tenebrae?
[23:48:15] <sbx> Someone mentioned it on the Exult forum post which wjp locked. :)
[23:48:29] <servus> That Quake thing?
[23:49:35] <sbx> yeah
