[00:00:22] <Blackthorn> you have contacts at EA? cool!
[00:01:33] <Arizail> not exactly contacts as such but we know some people (that woman d00d that worked on most the ultimas... responseible for the heart in the sand in u9... she lurks the wayward)
[00:02:35] <Blackthorn> lady moi?
[00:03:15] <Arizail> i think so
[13:16:34] <Colourless> hi
[13:30:18] <Kirben> Hi Colourless
[13:36:43] <Kirben> Any plans to true roland support now more info is available ? re thread at http://www.jackchaos.com/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=exult&Post=358&Idle=90&Sort=0&Order=Descend&Page=0&Session=
[13:37:50] <Colourless> maybe. It's just too hard to test it
[13:39:53] <Kirben> I can help test, still have roland type mid card around
[13:40:00] <Kirben> mid=midi
[13:40:11] <Colourless> mt32 compatable?
[13:40:44] <Kirben> I think so, how can I check for sure ?
[13:42:39] <Colourless> quite simply if PFunk's midis play properly than it's MT32 compatible.
[13:44:01] <Colourless> do you know what your card is actually called?
[13:47:07] <Kirben> I forget except name, came with Monster Sound MX200
[13:47:27] <Kirben> From Dream something company that stole Rolands midi banks
[13:47:42] <Colourless> na, that wont work.
[13:47:43] <Kirben> I have pdf file about midi card though
[13:47:53] <Colourless> card is too recent
[13:50:19] <Kirben> http://www.dream.fr/sam9733.htm
[13:52:02] <Colourless> yeah, something like that wouldn't be sufficent. A device like and MT32, MT100 or LAPC1 is actually required. No other cards/devices actually properly emulate the MT32
[13:57:04] <Kirben> It actually seemed to work as MT32 in a couple of old games though which was strange.
[13:59:59] <Colourless> Any sound card with an MPU401 MIDI port can act as a MT32 and if they have an MT32 patch set they may even sound somewhat correct, BUT the MT32 was a programmable chip and MANY game reprogrammed the patch set in the MT32. Ultima VII/Serpent Isle was one of them
[14:05:30] <Kirben> ok just found user guide for card which mentions that
[14:05:52] <Colourless> it's damn annoying :)
[14:05:57] <Kirben> mt-32 sound variation 127
[14:12:22] <Kirben> Would DirectMusic be any help ? same midi bank for everyone ?
[14:13:10] <Colourless> that's about it's only advantage
[14:13:34] <Colourless> for Exult. It has other advantages that are not useful for this sort of thing
[14:16:16] <Kirben> oh well
[14:16:20] <Kirben> night
[14:39:24] <Jammet> Hej =)
[14:39:29] <Colourless> hi
[14:39:33] <Jammet> How
[14:39:37] <Jammet> =) Whops.
[14:39:41] <Jammet> How are you =) ?
[14:40:07] <Colourless> i'm ok
[14:41:03] * Jammet trying to find his old Serpent Isle game hopelessy. Either I gave it away or don't know where I put it. So all that's left to me is BG now. Erf.
[14:41:10] <Jammet> I'm fine =) apart from that.
[14:41:24] <Colourless> oh NO!
[14:41:30] <Jammet> What?
[14:41:47] <Colourless> "* Jammet trying to find...."
[14:42:08] <Jammet> Accidents happen, I forgot a word, so what? =/
[14:42:35] <Colourless> grrrr. I wasn't pointing that ouy
[14:42:37] <Colourless> out
[14:43:00] <Jammet> Well, what are you trying to say?
[14:43:28] <Colourless> i was attempting to imply that loosing your copy of Serpent Isle was a huge tragedy.
[14:43:34] <Jammet> Don't tell me: You've lost yours too?
[14:43:39] <Colourless> hell no
[14:43:41] <Colourless> :)
[14:43:47] <Colourless> I wouldn't be so.... foolish ;-)
[14:43:48] <Jammet> Yes it is a damn tragedy =(.
[14:44:11] <Colourless> I own 2 copies even
[14:44:12] <Jammet> It's not my fault, how was I supposed to guess that I'd ever be able to play this game again under Linux?
[14:44:22] * Jammet mrowls sadly, "Lucky you."
[14:45:07] <Colourless> hehe. Strictly speaking I own 3 copies but I gave one away, (2 copies of the Ultima Collection)
[14:45:30] <Jammet> I got the damn manual, even the box, but it's empty! I stack my CDs and disks in one spot, and it is not there. Somebody else's got to have it. I must have given it away but no idea who.
[14:45:47] <Jammet> LOL =) You're rich in that respect.
[14:58:45] <Jammet> I give up.. it's gone.
[14:58:57] <Colourless> oh well
