[05:56:08] --- Ember is now known as Darke
[07:05:45] <ShadwChsr> Hey Darke :)
[07:05:58] <Darke> Hiya.
[07:14:32] <ShadwChsr> got some time to answer a few "3d newbie" questions?
[07:16:13] <Darke> Umm... depends what your questions are? I'm not exactly experienced in 3d either. *grin*
[07:16:38] <ShadwChsr> Well, you have a Vertex Buffer for some kind of simple polygon
[07:16:52] <ShadwChsr> what "space" are the XYZ coordinates in?
[07:17:06] <ShadwChsr> should [0,0,0] in that coordinate space be the center of the object?
[07:17:43] <ShadwChsr> And, what happens when I translate (move) the object? How do I specify where it should be rendered?
[07:19:28] <ShadwChsr> My best guess is that each vertex buffer/object has it's own coordinate space, with the origin usually at the center at the object
[07:19:40] <ShadwChsr> Then to render, you set the world matrix to a custom transformation
[07:19:44] * Darke points to Colourless when he arrives. *grin*
[07:19:52] <ShadwChsr> but.. im not sure if you're supposed to do that for every object? :P
[07:19:58] <ShadwChsr> ugh why cant they have "3d for dummies" :P
[07:31:01] <ShadwChsr> yep, I was righ t:)
[08:49:34] <Fermi> like totally!
[08:50:47] <Darke> Like yeah! Y'know?
[09:21:54] <Fermi> Thank God! Like I totally need a manicure or something!
[09:24:09] <Darke> Like, for sure!
[09:25:05] <Darke> Your cuticles, like, y'know, *really* need attending to, y'know!
[09:39:53] * Fermi is watching legally blonde
[09:40:17] <Fermi> and living it
[09:40:32] <Fermi> excuse me, I have some shopping to do.
[09:40:43] <Darke> That's just scary, y'know? I don't, like, *know* how, like, people can *speak* like that.
[09:44:16] <Fermi> men are big fat retards?
[09:47:09] <Fermi> oh yeah. if appreciating the bend & snap makes me a big fat retard...then I'm all that
[09:47:43] * Darke snerks.
[11:27:22] <wjp> hi
[11:27:29] <Darke> Hi.
[11:47:08] <Fermi> gawd las vegas rawks
[11:50:03] <Fermi> any of you been to defcon?
[11:53:50] <Darke> Nope.
[11:54:09] <Fermi> It's fun.
[11:54:15] <Fermi> I've been twice.
[11:54:22] <Fermi> 99 and 2000
[12:00:12] <Darke> Given the fact I helped decode u8's quotes encryption format, I'd rather avoid the US just in case EA decides to sick the DMCA on me, like Adobe did to that poor Sklyarov guy. *grin*
[12:01:32] <wjp> hm, that's illegal under the DCMA?
[12:01:47] <wjp> I'm rather impressed by its stupidity :-)
[12:03:19] <Darke> Yup. The 'encryption' format in that aforementioned case was rot13, and the cypher we decoded was just a little stronger. *grin*
[12:07:19] <Darke> I actually can't remember what happened in the end, IIRC the EFF persuaded Adobe to drop the charges, and they recommended such to the appropriate people. I can't remember what happened after that though. *grin*
[12:34:04] <Fermi> sunny days suck
[12:34:17] <Fermi> give me monsoons any day
[12:35:06] <Darke> Hmm... y'know, they sound like names of random alcoholic drinks.
[12:35:08] <Darke> Hiya!
[12:35:32] <wjp> hi
[12:42:57] <Fingolfin> hi
[12:59:39] <oc_> hi
[12:59:46] <wjp> hi
