[19:49:01] <Malignant_Manor> Does anyone know if DATA>/midisfx.flx was ever created by Exult?
[19:50:18] <Marzo> It is in SVN, but I don't think it is distributed or installed
[19:51:13] <Malignant_Manor> It isn't even when it is selected. Exult crashes when midisfx are enabled.
[19:51:39] <Malignant_Manor> Also it is overwritten by the wave flx if it exists.
[19:52:36] <Marzo> Midi sfx aren't enabled by default, have less precedence than wave sfx and are experimental and buggy
[19:52:52] <Marzo> (Not to mention that they don't sound as good)
[19:53:12] <Malignant_Manor> Good being relative when talking about U7 sfx.
[19:54:24] <Malignant_Manor> Still crashes with the file :/.
[19:54:55] <Malignant_Manor> I guess support for it was neglected since it was crap and disabled by default.
[19:54:55] <Marzo> [16:52] Marzo: Midi sfx [...] are experimental and buggy
[19:55:26] <Malignant_Manor> Well, didn't they at least not crash when taking a few steps?
[19:56:02] <Marzo> The best thing about them would be if the BG SFX data could be found; then, Exult could generate the SFX (as the original games used midi SFX) for BG and SI and not need the wave SFX
[19:56:18] <Marzo> Can't say, as I never really tried them
[19:57:38] <Malignant_Manor> Well, I've always wondered about how Exult allows the sfx and music packages to be on the link page.
[19:58:28] <Malignant_Manor> I would think that there are some legal issues there.
[19:58:48] <Marzo> It is not like the SFX packages have a lot of uses other than Exult
[19:59:01] <Marzo> (not many programs read flex files)
[19:59:25] <Malignant_Manor> can be extracted really easily and the oggs are usable right off the bat
[20:00:08] <Marzo> They are also intended for use in Exult with the original games
[20:01:32] <Marzo> And given that Exult is open source, any attempts at preventing use of these files for other purposes would be a self-defeating proposition
[20:13:49] --- Marzo is now known as Marzo_away
[20:21:54] <Malignant_Manor> The call to " midfile.GetEventList(0) " seems to be causing he crash.
[20:26:11] <Malignant_Manor> I guess not :/ Got lucky streak with not crashing.
[21:56:38] <Malignant_Manor> I did find the real bug. It was playing a sfx number (135) that wasn't in the flx causing it to crash.
