[15:51:29] <johnnyi7> Hello. I'm doing alittle work for a source-based distro that wants to include version 1.2 in its games section. In attempting this I have had a problem during make. Is anyone willing/able to assist? Or is there a more appropriate channel?
[15:52:33] <wjp> what's the problem?
[15:53:37] <johnnyi7> I get an error when make runs in shapes. Do you want a paste of the end?
[15:54:17] <wjp> yes, but not in here; use something like http://pastebin.com/
[15:54:54] <johnnyi7> wjp: Ok. Let me look at how pastebin works. brb
[15:55:35] <Rado> http://sial.org/pbot/exult/ might work, too.
[15:56:04] <wjp> there are many of those around
[15:56:09] * Rado . o O ( though only more benefitial if pasteling were here to idle )
[15:59:32] <johnnyi7> wjp: I pasted it but pastebin is a bit slow atm, I'll let you know when it completes.
[16:00:18] * Rado . o O ( "slow", ... how much has been posted?! )
[16:00:47] <johnnyi7> Rado: About 25 lines. Is that alot
[16:00:48] <johnnyi7> ?
[16:00:50] <Rado> No.
[16:01:01] <Rado> Try the other then, it's simpler => faster.
[16:01:12] <Rado> pastebin has too much overhead for my taste.
[16:01:53] <johnnyi7> ok, brb
[16:02:56] <Rado> And maybe it has just become too popular => overloaded with users. ;)
[16:03:29] <johnnyi7> Rado: What channel should I select, or should I choose <none>?
[16:03:48] <Rado> none, since it doesn't live in #eXult (yet).
[16:04:02] <Rado> You have to post the URL manually.
[16:05:01] <Rado> Has pastebin returned in the meantime?! ;)
[16:05:16] <johnnyi7> http://sial.org/pbot/18231
[16:05:34] <johnnyi7> I stopped the pastebin paste.
[16:07:35] <johnnyi7> I have almost the latest of everything linux installed. kernel at 2.6.17-ck1, gcc 4.03, latest of most everything else. Have sdl and sdl_mixer.
[16:15:39] <johnnyi7> wjp: Do I need to paste more info or is what I have ok?
[16:33:42] <johnnyi7> Hopefully I didn't miss an instruction here. I pasted what I believe is the relevent error at http://sial.org/pbot/18231 I'll stay hooked up to the forum here for the next few hours, but I'll be out for lunch starting in about 15 minutes. Thanks for any help on this. :)
[16:40:19] <Rado> Yeah, patience is the key. ;)
[16:41:21] <wjp> try re-running ./autogen.sh, configure and make
[16:41:39] <wjp> seems like for some strange reason configure didn't properly detect some system headers
[16:42:59] <johnnyi7> wjp: I just downloaded the source tarball, 1.2 and ran ./configure and make. I hadn't done the autogen.sh thingy.
[16:43:18] <johnnyi7> I'll try that now and see what I get. :)
[17:05:06] <johnnyi7> I tried the ./autogen thing before ./configure and make, but I get approximately the same error. Actually the first several lines are different, but I don't know it's significant. Should I paste the results of the whole thing into sial.org? (including ./configure)
[17:09:00] <johnnyi7> Taking a chance, I pasted the entire listing at http://sial.org/pbot/18240
[17:09:37] <johnnyi7> I'll be back in about an hour. Thanks for your help. :)
[17:20:41] <wjp> you'll have to modify the check in hash_utils.h for gcc 4
[19:19:00] <johnnyi7> wjp: We have an option in our build to call older versions of gcc, so since I have no idea how to "...modify the check in hash_utils.h...", I'll just call gcc34. I know, the cowards way out. ;) Thanks for your help.
