[15:27:24] <lanica> Hello all
[15:30:34] <lanica> I seem to be having some trouble compiling Exult in windows (XP). I'm using Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition.
[15:31:39] <lanica> I'm using the latest CVS version and right now when I try to build Exult_bg_flx.h, it gives the error NMAKE : fatal error U1073: don't know how to make 'expack.o' which causes it to not be built.
[15:32:12] <lanica> There are actually 5 failures when building the complete solution, but I figured I could break it down and do it one by one.
[15:32:17] <lanica> expack builds just fine, btw.
[15:57:55] <wjp> sounds like your build rule for the .h file is wrong
[15:58:04] <wjp> the .h is produced by expack together with the .flx
[16:01:23] <lanica> Hmm...another strange thing is that wud won't compile...gives this error:
[16:01:30] <lanica> c:\exult-src\headers\common_types.h(50) : fatal error C1189: #error : "Please make sure a 16 bit type is provided by common_types.h"
[16:03:54] <lanica> I can manually produce the *_flx.h files by running buildflx (.bat) in data, data\bg, and data\si
[16:04:50] <lanica> But in the data\bg directory, it produces the error "Error opening file bg_paperdol.vga"
[16:05:16] <lanica> Seems like quite a few small pieces are missing... in some form.
[16:27:42] <wjp> well, we don't target msvc..
[16:33:15] <lanic1> You don't target msvc?
[16:33:18] --- lanic1 is now known as lanica
[16:33:33] <wjp> no
[16:33:48] <lanica> There's code and readme instructions FOR msvc....
[16:34:29] <lanica> Plus it appears that version 1.2 supports msvc 6.0 and version 1.4 supports msvc .net (and greater)
[16:35:47] <lanica> I was wanting to work on a PocketPC version of Exult. I figured it would make sense to at least compile it once in msvc first :)

[16:36:40] <wjp> it should be able to build exult in msvc, but the workspace isn't actively kept up-to-date by us
[16:37:20] <lanica> Ahh, ok.
[16:38:55] <Marzo> And even the workspace being updted to .net 2005 was because I like the (free) IDE (but even then, I use MinGW to compile)
[16:39:15] <lanica> Ok
[16:39:21] <lanica> I'll try out MinGW
[16:39:28] <wjp> hey Marzo
[16:39:31] <Marzo> Hi
[16:43:17] <Marzo> And bye (going to work)
[17:01:41] <lanica> WOO...it compiled.
