Re: Voices are high-pitched in BG
Brian, I wouldn't call this a showstopper bug. The team has worked hard to make sure other more important things which affected the plot were fixed in this release. I'm pretty certain that if there is a solution to sound pitch problem, Colourless will implement it. Remember that everything is done i...

Re: Translations
There is a SDL_ttf package which we could use which has all sorts of neat functions for showing TrueType text, including UTF-8 support.
I believe there is an avatar.ttf font lying around: we could have two methods for displaying text: shape-based (as it is now) and ttf-based (with custom fonts).

The music you hear at the Exult menu is a MIDI that was composed by Matt Kimmich for the now-defunct "Age of the Dragons" project and used with his permission. The title of the track is "Medieval Town". BTW I have the complete set of the MIDIs from "Age of the Dragons",...

DOS Easy ? Yes, like creating boot disks with enough free lower mem to run Ultima VII. That was easy. Also, the music packs work only with Exult 1.1.x, because that is the version with the OGG support. With Exult 1.0 your only option is to use your platform's MIDI support. Make sure you can play MID...

Sound packs are for sound effects, music in 1.0.x is done via your soundcard's midi (under windows), so check your windows midi mapper and mixer settings.

fliptw is right. Linux is not Unix, because only OSs derived from AT&T's source code have the right to be called that. If you want a *real* Unix, you can get Solaris 9 for x86 from Sun. If you want Linux, there are many distros, depending on what you want (and depending on the package management...

The best thing is to add low res mdoes to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Search the web for modelines for 320x200, 320x240, 400x300, 512x384, etc.

Because with slow video cards you should change palette only during vertical refresh. If you use INT10 it does it for you, but if you write directly into the VGA registers it flickers.

Then you need to get to the individual frames within that shape. The GIMP plugin allows you to do that by putting each frame in a separate layer.
