E_Jim, did you ever finish U8/Spanish? We've had reports that it's not
possible to get past one particular section, due to bugs in the dialogue not

That would be rather counterproductive since LB is on record as trying to minimise the 'cost' of dying. After all, giving a penalty to dying simply makes people take another penalty using a non-gameworld means, that is loading your last savegame and losing the work you've done since. Currently there...

Ok, I'm now rather puzzled at this, having about the same luck reproducing the problem as Dr Code is. What configuration are you using everything in? Operating System? What version? Are you using BG+FOV, or just BG itself? It seems very odd that you can reproduce it so easily, yet most people can't....

An easy way to tell would be to wander into a dungeon, at least
far enough so that the cave entrance is off the screen, and check
if you still hear the beeping. If you do, it sounds like a bug, if you
don't, it's likely that it's just the birds you're hearing.

The Pocket PC's compiler was non-C++ compilent in areas that exult used, last time this was considered. As a result it would have taken quite a significant rewrite of parts of it to port it. I don't know it's current state, though. You'd also need support of SDL and SDL-mixer to the Pocket PC at lea...

We know most of the data file formats as it is. The most useful data at the moment would be *how* some of the bits interact. *grin* I believe all the documentation on the file formats he mentioned was on a webpage, now long gone and non archived anywhere I can find it, mentioned in the documentation...

Agreed! Saving's quick, loading's quick! With reasonable amounts of ram u8/crusader's memory manager will load the entire set of datafiles into memory, so no paging when changing a level, or loading from a different map (the crusader games use about 67Meg of memory for all their data, can't remember...

Downgrade your video drivers to an older version, some people
have had screen corruption problems with the newer drivers.
Presumably because of bugs in the driver, since exult doesn't
touch the video hardware directly and works fine most driver
versions/cards.

That's probably because 0x09 is an ascii tab ('\t') and 0x0A is an ascii line feed ('\n'), both technically considerd whitespace (which is probably tested by isspace() or something).
0x03 isn't a printable character, so might be being filtered out by any isprint() tests.

I've got the same version of flex, but not of bison. Try downgrading to an older bison version (I use 1.35, I don't know what the others use). IIRC, some of the newer bison versions have idosyncracies and different defaults to the older ones, which is what you might be tripping up on. Exult+tools co...
