In U9 you find a belt right at the beginning of the game.
that belt has 12 slots in which you can put an item and use it by pressing F1-F12. You can put spells there as well. Made things a lot easier.

hm, I had this problem once but that bug was fixed. It may have returned though.

Oh, you can by the way download the tools at our download section. These are Win32 binaries so if you run anything else you have to compile it yourself.

RMajere: could it be that you are confusing the hoe of destruction with the scythe of death? You find one in the Test of Love in the FoV Add-on along with a couple of glass swords.

Sorry to say, but you are screwed becuase of your sound card. The Turtle Beach Montego II Quadzilla is a Vortex chip based card. Exult is triggering a bug in the drivers when run in Win9x. It´s okay in W2k (and presumably in XP but that is not confirmed). You might want to try finding a newer driver...

ahh, maybe we can get down to the cause of the savegame corruptions now. So, are you sure it happens after you destroyed the 2nd Generator? Meaning, can you cheat just before it and teleport to an NPC that you know for sure turns into Gaye and make sure this NPC is still the one he´s supposed to be?...

Lord Rat: That is stated in the documentation (for quite some time now) but I grant you that it is not that clear that you won´t hear any sfx without these files. And it actually doesn´t matter where you put the sound files as long as you set the proper paths to them in the exult.cfg.

It´s at Loch Lake beach to the northwest in a body of a green trout.
It says body instead of trout, btw. hidden under the branches of some

Sven just to make sure about Alagner: You have to give the notebook to the wisps before Alagner gets killed. Otherwise the big red muppet doesn´t know that Alagner knows and therefore has no reason to kill him.

oh and about your stdout.txt and stderr.txt: We only need the first few lines (about 40 of the stdout.txt and some of the stderr.txt), and the last few lines.

and to clarify a bit, that teleporter is normally only accessible when you are standing on a crate or sth like that. It´s actually an "Easter Egg" which bring you to the so called cheatrooms and such.

I did cheat a lot :-) but that´s because I´m a cheater and not becuase it was necessary. Mostly that is. Some bugs that I reported and got fixed eventually forced me to cheat a bit but those were mostly teleport cheats. All of those bugs I reported have been fixed so you should be able to finish SI ...

You can send this savegame to me. Zip it up please. Could be that this was the problem that sourceforge didn´t take the savegame. And log in to sf before submitting a bug. This way you will get notifications on what happens to the bug.

Hm, okay, I just noticed that you found the tracker on your own. but still please read the FAQ on it. You need to zip the savegames as the file uncompressed is too big. And also please zip and don´t use any other compression method (like rar, ace, or cab) as it is much easier to unzip than any other...

I heard about those Ratmen as well and I believe that it was mentioned along with some plot involving the Nagas in SI (the women that are half snake). Andy: the entire scripting of the plot... well the source code of the Ultima7 are supposed to be lost and many Ultima fans tried to get a hold of it ...
