Re: [OT?] Graphics, perspective, and copyrights
Well, let's say that each image has it's way to be treated, but basically there are two kinds: one just need to be rotated, 45 degrees. This is good for extremely small objects, like plants - flowers - etc. The others (Walls, plants etc.) has to be treated as follows: Split the image into two pieces...

Re: Random, heavy slowdowns
Totally randomic. I thought it was the pathfinder too, in the beginning, because I had a 7 characters party. I tried going alone, in the desert, and it's the same. Alone, waterwalking where there's practically nothing, and still the problem exists. Yesterday I tried something new: I reinstalled RC 0...

Re: [OT?] Graphics, perspective, and copyrights
Something like FF, check this early screenshot: http://www.lalista.org/editorshot1.gif As for the isometric view, yes: that's no problem at all. Yet, when I decided for what kind of perspective to go, I noticed that isometric would have had some of the problems of real 3d, and some of the issues of ...

Random, heavy slowdowns
Version 1.0 (the latest snapshot). Exult randomly and extremely slowdowns, getting stuck for a couple seconds before returning to normality. Then, again, at random time, another slowdown. I can't reproduce this in anyway, location, party, sounds turned on or off, it doesn't matter. The slowdown happ...

[OT?] Graphics, perspective, and copyrights
Recently - see the golden age thread - I temporarily put away my 3d engine in order to quickly come up with a "retrogame", a 2d rpg. For both the projects, I am using Ultima VII graphics. First: ultima VII's perspective is weird, so I am trying to fix them manually. For now, I just need to...

Re: (OT) Golden Age
Thanks - what a resource! I am now pushing Ultima IX to it's limits on the glory of a Radeon 9700 Pro (and still, it's slightly crunchy) Also, looking back to this "golden age" thread, I've frozen my 3d project in order to try to develop extremely quickly an rpg with the same script and wo...

BTW: Unofficial patch for Ultima IX?
What's that? I never heard about such a "fan-made" patch.
Since I didn't like Ultima IX at all, yet I enjoyed a lot modding and generally fiddling with it, where can I get it?

Re: 1.1 news?
Hmmm! Tasty!
Anyhow those are improvements, while I thought that the 1.1 branch was basically the "Experimental lab" for functional modification, stuff which would be nice to implement but would also introduce brand new mechanics differing from the original gameplay.

1.1 news?
Are there some news from the "programmers' playground" branch?
What's going to be implemented in Exult 1.1?

Re: NPC Functions
Forget the cauldron, and prepare to bake bread: just use flour on a table. Then drop a bucket of water on the flour to obtain uncooked bread. Take that and put it into an owen. Done! Sometimes you'll be lucky and instead of bread you'll get pastry. You can also be a tailor: take wool and use it on t...

Re: Drcode: screenshots
What I used? It's my 3d engine, currently still under minor developement but basically done. We're trying to assemble a small demo of the Rpg game we're gonna write next year. The Ultima7 graphics are wonderful. REalistic graphics are bad if you've not a VERY powerful engine with detail texturing, m...

Re: Drcode: screenshots
Heh yes. I've got no 3d artist so right now we're using md2 porting to our format.
Did I mention that I've got no 3d artist?

Re: Sprites to textures, and batch extraction
Sure. People, too, is making tons of ultima remakes using a lot of copyrighted names, for example. I am not even doing a remake of any ultima (it's so stupid! Porting it is great. Remaking it is just wasting technology on a non-original design), just using it's graphics.

Re: Sprites to textures, and batch extraction
Thanks! The tools are gonna save my cut'n'pasting life. I was pretty much sure you had such stuff somewhere, but I can be incredibly dull when coming to browse sites for resources :) About a web site: we are currently setting up it, but you'll surely know: it's all about the screenshots. We develope...

Sprites to textures, and batch extraction
I am currently working on a 3d rpg game, and we all always loved that not-so-real looking of Ultima7 graphics, so we are porting walls, doors etc. (not to mention ground tiles) to textures (which basically means skewing the sprites to a decent frontal perspective) Did someone make a tool to batch ex...

Suicidal characters
Once I use the death power of the blackrock sword on Lord British, all the party members decide to suicide.
When in combat mode, they will stand and hit an inexistent foe, damaging themselves. When they die, even after the resurrection, the suicidal effect stays on.
