Re: U7 Online
IMHO an UO-like U7 is difficult to achieve, but not a multiplayer LAN-mode one. Something like the network engine used by Age of Empires would be not too difficult to implement. You have 2+ players connected ( one of which is the server that started the game and that will provide maps and savegames,...

Re: U7 Online
Ultima Online world is divided into "statics" ( terrain, walls, caves, etc ) and objects/npcs and players. Statics are on the client and the only way of changing it is by downloading a new one ( or patch verdata.mul ). NPCs and dynamic objects are instead sent by the server. Map is divided...

I think I'll make some calculations to find how much often someone talks about a multiplayer Exult
Maybe there is some coincidence with stars alignment or dark rituals O_o

Re: Single Player Game using UO engine?
Sorry I didn't want to flame :) As I said previously, U8 is one of the games I like more. With "buggy" I was referring to the pre-patch things ( because I played it without the patch ). However I liked very much two things: the way you could move ( little step, normal step, run, jump, clim...

Re: Single Player Game using UO engine?
The demo ran at 640 x 480 at full screen. When I first started it I said: "WOW Ultima 8 part 2!" ( if you play UO in 640 x 480 full screen is almost the same as U8 ).
I know I know that U8 was buggy... but it was my first love ehhehe.

Re: The SIMS obsession in U7
Wow UO-style job system for Exult You wake up in the morning... go to the mine and start extracting ore/smelting/creating daggers or other rubbish until you fall asleep on your keyboard. Then, repeat the loop hehehe :P Seriously talking, I like games where you can interact with almost anything... I ...

Re: Single Player Game using UO engine?
Exactly
But there was a way to wander around lonely and still having invulnerability.
Enter one of the houses and make sure the wisp was in, too.
Then exit and quickly close the door.
The wisp remains into the house

Re: Single Player Game using UO engine?
Yeah, you started in Occlo and your mission was to learn how to use UO The wisp guided you trought some fundamental aspects of the game, and your goal was to kill a red dragon with a glass sword. Then the wisp disappears and you're newly vulnerable ( when the wisp follows you, you're invincible ). N...

Oh, no you're not an idiot ^_^ Simply you must learn these things ;) Download this file that points to the current release: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/exult/exult-1.1.10rc2-win32.exe or in the Download section, download the Windows (95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP) Binary ( it's the same file, but it's ...

Re: OT: Favorite Linux Distro
Well not exactly... I have a K6-200 and an Athlon XP-m 2800... Each of the system really improves in speed when compiled with the right flags. For example I usually use -O3 while mostly distros compiles with -O2... I know that not always -O3 is faster than -O2, but I usually notice a speed improveme...

Re: OT: Favorite Linux Distro
Gentoo ^_^ I used a lot of distros ( starting with slackware, redhat, suse, mandrake, debian ) but I agree with DrCrode... Gentoo is perfect for a developer or for anyone that wants a system that auto-updates and configure all the OS really for YOUR machine. Well there is binary portage, too so you ...

Re: Big project involving Exult
Well... here's a brief description of my project. The server is a big, clustered, computer. It's a virtual machine, because it's not a normal computer, and it can be on multiple computers at the same time... Then there are secondary systems, such as AI and NPC controllers. Third. The client... here ...
