At 3840x1080 maybe the x4 and x5 scaling mode could be ok for playing (i.e. not too much cheat space)? Found this setting that is working perfectly for 3840x1080:
Fullscreen: enabled
DisplayMode: 3840x1080 (set through exult.cfg, not proposed in app using current dev build)
Scaler:Point
Scaling: x3 (or x4 for less cheat space)
GameArea: auto

I modified the exult.cfg to have 3840x1080 in both resolution and game area size :D For some reason Exult is not letting me freely select these value from within the app. Ok this is extreme here but still I could use a larger view than 320x200, not sure why only a selection of sizes is proposed in a...
