The main problem is that trying to play it that way sucks, mainly due to effects of it being a 2D to 3D conversion and not a "real" 3D engine, but I don't think those are limitations. The engine just needs some interface tweaks IMO, such as more natural camera movement. (probably a bit mor...

It should "work" still, and servus said it is more or less completed, but it needs some interface improvement before you'd call it "ready". (I wouldn't try to play the whole game with it.) You can download it somewhere.

You need their body, but if you change it into a broken automaton shape (I've just been using shape 762 frame 28) you can then use the create automaton spell to bring them back. You could report it as a bug on Exult's bugtracker, and post a savegame so that one of the developer's can take a look at it. The "leave" option should definetely be there if he thinks he's in your party. Of course, after a certain point in the game, you can't even resurrect him. Maybe som...

Hmm, maybe they're not really "dead for good" then. I just meant that they don't go to the dead room, and can't be resurrected from the cheat menu. The NPC is actually deleted. I'm not an Exult developer though, so I don't know exactly how it works.

Oh, yeah. That's just for items. :) In Exult when NPC's are dead, they're dead for good. Try setting flag 255. That's listed in keyring mod's flag list as KNOWS_OF_SOUL_GEMS. There is also 310 which I have listed as "Returned Torissio's Wand" and 616 listed as "ask ducio about worm ge...

There's not really anything you can do to predict or prevent a bug like this, unfortunately. OK, it was a bug after all. I don't know what caused it, but there is a workaround. Somehow the egg that tells the game you visited Destard didn't get activated, so the flag didn't get set. Good point. A mod (perhaps an update to Keyring) should completely remove the Emps quest from the U7 story.That plus making you go through what you have to to "get him to join", only to have him not is kinda annoying.

Roland digital music? Those sqsfx* files are sound effects packs. The music is OGG format and listed on the download page as Ogg encoded Music files for Exult Part 1/2.

What was the problem? As for Timidity, I recommend using digital music instead, if you have the diskspace. Timidity uses far more CPU resources to emulate the midi music with less accuracy than the digital reproductions. If you want to use it anyway, the executables should be in /usr/bin. If Timidit...
