Re: Question regarding the Black Sword
The Black Sword was always creepy to me. I decided that since it was demonic, it would be very un-avatarlike to use it, so I never did. But sometimes I would find myself using it even though I had not selected it, which made it seem like it was trying to force itself on me and created quite a spooky...

Re: Aspect & Release
Well if you ever need a playtester, I'd be happy to volunteer. I recently read some messages on your mail list talking about reformatting the code, changing the directory structure, and revamping the build system. I guess that's what you are talking about when you mention code restructuring. It soun...

If it's on The Register, just assume it is ironic. News with more than a hint of sarcasm is their specialty.

Re: Google code search (slightly OT)
People need to get over it. Some programmers know C, some know Java, some know PHP. But ALL programmers know the language of profanity. It just goes with the territory.

Re: Cosmetic Bugs
The cows in the Dungeon are not supposed to be there? I never knew! (I first played the game with Exult.) I actually found the cows to be somewhat amusing, because at the time my party was already a bit low on hit points and healing magic, so those cows turned out to be killers and I wound up fleein...

Re: Exult3D R2
A minor question about the 3D work (which is excellent, by the way): do you have any idea how you will deal with items that are intentionally hidden behind other objects? I'm thinking of things like levers hidden behind tombstones, and the like. In the original game, part of the challenge is being a...

Now that you mention it, I don't recall seeing him between those events. So how about it, Michael T.? Have you gotten to the kidnapping yet?

I think you're supposed to go talk to him about Rotoluncia and get his permission to use his barge to go to their...shall we say..."Fantasy Island."

Re: Just a thought
Batlin, if you don't want to support EA (and I sympathize on that) then look for the games on EBay and in the used section of games stores. You can get the games without giving money to EA.

Re: Saving Cantra
Yech. The more I hear about U9, the less I even want to get it. Even Pagan turned me off. (Not being in Britannia was odd, but livable. Not being able to chose my gender was ridiculous. Heck, I was upset in U4 that I couldn't be a Fuzzy Other anymore. But Pagan's user interface was what really turne...

"world of neversleeping puppets"? I've never played U9. Please don't tell me the NPCs don't have schedules.

Re: The Mystery of Angus
For my own part, I don't mind having Angus' fate be a mystery. In the real world, not everything works out, and not every problem can be solved. Whenever I encountered an unsolvable mystery in Ultima I just took it as that kind of situation: as something that not even the mighty power of the Avatar ...

Re: Dead NPC's in Serpent Isle
Don't worry about people who fixate on the dead. They're just practicing necromancy so they'll be ready for Pagan.

Re: Should ucc be able to compile the output of ucxt?
OK. But that makes me wonder whether there is any way at all to change the existing usecode other than poking some new values into the usecode binary file. From what I've seen of the usecode machine so far, it looks like all you can do is replace one function with another, which isn't really what I ...

Should ucc be able to compile the output of ucxt?
I've just started playing with usecode and have been happily exploring and modifying SourceForge Island. But then I tried something different and hit a snag. I thought I'd try to modify an existing npc, so I disassembled the BlackGate (+FoV) usecode file using ucxt, changed Iolo's words at the openi...

Re: Bugs/Issues in Serpent Isle/Silver Seed
I don't recall encountering the respawn issue in Silver Seed, but the lich lords did cast that fast for me. However, you don't have to cheat to defeat them. The minute you see one of them immediately open your spell book (which pauses the game). Now select your favorite death spell and cast it at th...

Re: The SIMS obsession in U7
I kept all my loot at Sentri's place in Britain. I even made sure to lock up the money and magic items in the vault. Sentri's place just seemed appropriate since, as he was a party member, I felt I had permission to use it. Some other place would have to have been stolen, or taken from vanquished fo...

Talking to them worked for me too, so now I can continue my game. I am a very happy Avatar!
I'm glad the bug report was useful. I used to be a programmer myself, so I tried to include the kinds of information that I would have wanted.

SI: After the Fawn trail I can't go downstairs
I've already submitted this in the bug tracker, but thought I would mention it here as well, in case some other players have encountered this and found a workaround. In SI, I go to Fawn and Dupre makes his stupid toast to Lord British and gets us put on trial. Everything seems to go well, but after ...
