Thatïs what I think too. Unfortunately I am not very versed in programming. But maybe someone else here knows what to do.

As I understand it, patches should be used mainly for fixing bugs. So they should be mixable with addons. Otherwise the bugs would maintain when the addon is played, as long as the addon would not contain the bugfixes itself.
