Hey guys! Great job on the exult team. I just discovered this the other day, and I just wanted to say cheers.

Not to complain (since I know the work you must have put into this) but there are a few things I noticed that I thought I would share in the interest of improvment.

Fristly, the sound blaster pro sound packs are fairly consistent with the original sounds. Such as the inventory "shhh" to the "creak" when opening doors. The one flaw on the whole darn thing is the birds. They don't sound like I remember them. In fact, they sound kind of annoying and not very bird like.

Additionally, some of the sound effects appear to be being called at the wrong times. For instance, when closing an inventory window, I get the same "glump" sound I use to get when I used to feed one of the characters. when I actually do feed one of the characters, I get no sound at all.

If you're already aware of these issues, parden this post.

Other than that, great work. It will be nice to play Ultima7 again all the way through. When I get the time :-S

i am not sure about the birds sounds, but i can confirm that the sounds
being played when one closes the gumps via the "V-button"
are not correct and the feeding-sounds are missing as well.

now, is this an exult bug or is it a bug within the sound files?

i am not sure about si, but i will check it out, when i am back home...

...just checked si:

- the "okay-sound" when closing gumps is all right here, but the sound
being played when the gumps show up is incorrect.
- i don't hear the sounds of the gulls [is this the correct english word for
the white birds living near the sea?] as i did in the original.

Have you tried the MT32 sound effects pack?

The seagull sounds aren't coded in Exult. The v1.1 of Exult with the OGG digital music fixes sound effects such as these you mentioned.

i often switch sound effects packages (i am _still_ not sure which is the
best one), but for checking these issues here, i used the adlib/sb fx-files.

but you are right, i should have also checked which "music renderer" i use...
i will do so tonight....

aargh, maybe this one is going to be some "dag, please, please, please read
the faq!!"

just [re-] started si in the original [adlib/sb] and exult version [adlib/sb --
ogg/digital music]:
still no seagulls to hear in exult. :-(
since i do not know if this is a bug in the sound files or in exult itself,
i do not add this one to the bug-tracker. well, if it is a bug at all...

i really liked the seagulls in si, because si was the first game i played with a
soundcard [sb pro] at all, AND it my first ultima! so this is the reason why
i do remember those things quite well.....

Best to log a bug in the bug-tracker. Please list some places where the seagull sounds are heard. Is this in both BG and SI?
