Yeah, I can't figure out why MD is so much - it wasn't a good game.

Personally I never found a MD for the money I would give. Tried a couple of auctions but these were ending just way too high for me.
I got SE from Fortran Dragon when he did his Ultima "shop". I think just right before he quit selling them.

here @ ebay-germany a ULTIMA 1 for C64 package (without the disk! only userbook and maps and package) was sold for 120 $ !!!!!!!

Guess I was lucky, in that I found an unopened copy at a used-software store about 6 years ago, and paid around $8 for it. One of the floppies was bad, and Origin's tech-support sent me a replacement for free.

Ok ok, but none of this directs me to a copy of MD less than $50 - or the UU's. Got my SE for $5.

I got the underworld's in the "Ultimate RPG" game pack for $12 about 3-4 years ago, so you might try searching for that.

Has anyone tried contacting Origin directly about selling their old games? I'd bet that if they created a truly 'complete' collection, including 'Martian Dreams' and 'Savage Empire' plus the Underworlds, they could sell a fair number of copies.

Oh, woops, you just reminded me, I did get an unopened copy of the CD-Rom Classics: UU1 + 2 for 15 pounds sterling after shipping. So I'm just looking for MD now.

Just now I won Martian Dreams in an Ebay auction for US$ 50.35 (shipping included). That was the last Ultima I did not have.
Now please someone make something like Exult for U6/World of Ultima

Doesn't U6 run okay under Windows? I remember playing it under OS/2, so it's probably not too badly behaved. What I can't remember is whether it had a speed-limiter.

Not sure about U6, but when I last tried Savage Empire, it ran fine under Windows, but couldn't use sound.

Oh, of course they run fine (and with VDMS (sound emulator) sound is okay as well). But features like exult has would be great
You could even sort the whole interface more like U7 and so on...
while keeping the general top-down look.
