Can't get install file to work

Hi,

I have just downloaded the Exult install file ( at least I think I have) but I can't get it to work. The file is called "exult-1.00-win32.exe", when I try to run it on either my current XP system or my old 486 with WIN95 it says I have performed an illegal operation, or resets the PC.

I can't help thinking there must be something very obvious I have done wrong as noone else has mentioned anything like this, have I downloaded the wrong file or what? The FAQ and readme say things about setting the configuration correctly, but I can't even get the config file to exist??? Please let me know what I am doing wrong, I have been playing U7 for over 10 years and I still love it, but I get so sick of trying to get it to work on my old PC, it would be great to be able to play it in XP...

The link on our download page

is _not_ a direct link to the file. It first takes you to sourceforge's mirror page. Did you maybe download the mirror page accidently?
(I think some download tools cause this behaviour)

One easy way to check is the filesize. The download page is a couple of K, the exult installer is larger than 1Mb.

The Bochs download page links directly to one of the mirrors. Is that something you'd want to do?

You got it. Boy do I feel stoopid. I told you it would be something obvious.

Anyway, I have downloaded it *properly* now and it works. Sorry to bother you.

Not really. Kind of defeats the purpose of the mirrors, IMHO.
