a different Chaos Hierophant bug?

Post by jnp »

Just reached the frozen north. Just north of the cave you come out of is a cave with polar bears in it. Just north of that cave, is a cave with dead, scorched bodies, and some ghosts.

The problem: one of them is the Chaos Hierophant.

Now, I never have had the Chaos Hierophant show up there when playing the original.

This is the win32 snapshot form March 22.

Please file a bug report. At http://exult.info/faq.php#bug_report we have a detailed description of how to do this.
As a last resort you can send me the savegame.

I've had this problem before when I played through SI on the first bug hunt through SI. So that leads to some questions: how old is this game you are playing (meaning with which version of exult you started to play this game)?
How did you find out this is the chaos hierophant? Did he start talking or did you doubleclick on one of the ghosts?

Yes, it does sound like the old bug where extraneous NPC's were being created.

I'll file the report, but I'll also answer questions here:

The game was just started a few days ago with the March 22 version.

I doubled-clicked on the ghost to initiate the conversation. (I wasn't actually trying to talk to him, I meant to single-click, but double-clicked instead.)

Note that in the original, there are four non-hostile ghosts in the room (sort of dancing around). Under exult it was two (one hostile, and one the Chaos H).
