I just bought U9 and I am enjoying it but I am experiencing great difficulty with it.I am presently in stonegate and I cannot find a way out! Can anybody help me and I would like to know is there a patch to reduce the difficulty of the game.I am using version 1.18.
PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm not sure, since I've never played U9 all the way through. I would suggest posting your question in the Usenet newsgroup rec.games.ultima.series.

Stonegate isn't really that hard but it tries to introduce you to all the stuff you can do in u9. First thing to do when arriving in stonekeep is to take everything in the first room, go down the stairs and grab the spell-book.
In the spellbook there are some linear spells that you can cast right from the beginning.
Use "fire" to light the torch that is un-lit near the door in the room with the spell-book
In the room with the rat on a ledge use the "stone" spell to kill it, jump over to the ledge and pull the lever to open the door out of that room.
Go out that door and you'll come to another closed door. Behind it you can see a vase standing on a shelf (in the upper left). Use "gust" on the vase to open the door.
There is also something with a lift that will take you to a room with a pool of water. Turn one of the wheels on the wall to empty the pool. Press a small button on the bottom of the pool to open a way out.
Finally you'll enter a room with small fires all over the floor. Use the water spell to extinguish all the fires.
Outside the tower find the wurmguard, kill him and step on the teleporter. TADA you are in Brittania.
