1.0 seeming bug with gem for demon

I am playing through the isle of fire expansion, I have the blue gem, but when I double click on it to free the demon, it simply vanishes and nothing happens...

You're clicking on the wrong gem.

Lord British gave you a gem that showed the entrance to the castle on the Isle of Fire when you double-clicked on it.. but that gem is 'unstable' and vanishes if you use it while you are on the isle of fire.

The correct gem is small, and a dark colour IIRC, so it's hard to spot in your inventory. Use it and all should be well.

well, it was supposed to go into the gameplay FAQ but the maintainer of the FAQ screwed up and forgot it. It is noted however...

The one that LB gives you is the large light blue one (and which trolls seem to carry in profusion in SI).

The ether gem is indeed much smaller and dark blue. (Though even this doesn't prevent mistaken identity, as this makes it bear some resemblance to those Starbursts that were in BG.)
