Companions' kill frenzy bug?

I came upon something strange, which I think is a bug. When I tell Arcadion to use the death power on Erethian, all my companions start attacking each other and me, whoever is the closest! I experimented upon this further and tried placing other NPCs at the scene. Sure enough, anyone who is present when I kill Erethian with Arcadion's help, turns hostile towards everybody! On the other hand, nobody cares if I kill Erethian by normal means. After even more experimenting, it appears that this kill frenzy is activated if I use the death power on any friendly NPC that Arcadion will slay, be it Erethian, one of the party members or Lord British. I can understand attacking the Avatar, but attacking anyone present?
