Melino won't sell spell

i cant get melino to sell me spells. after the first conversation with him i covered all the options, but selling spells never came up. now when i try to talk to him the only option i get is "Bye" ( i have removed to stockings from my inventory to avoid his ire). is this an exult bug or something that happened before. its just that i really like the fetch spell and he is (supposedly) the only source of it.

any ideas?

I just tried a really old savegame in which I just got my spellbook, and I could ask Melino about 'spells'. Do you have a savegame where he won't sell you spells?

currently he wont seel me spells. i went back to an old savegaem before the mountains of freedom. he will sell spells then. maybe that is what triggers it.

if you made him angry before with the stockings (even when you later remove the stockings from your inventory) there is a good chance a flag is set so he won't talk to you anymore.
