SI: Grand Shrine of Balance crash

Post by Coder Dragon »

I just submitted a bug report (with savegame) for a crash that I am seeing in Serpent Isle...

It occurs just after getting the Order Serpent Eye in the Grand Shrine of Balance. After you place the items on the altar you are teleported back to the doors to the shrine. As soon as I try to move (using the left mouse button) the game crashes and terminates.

What is even more interesting: Dupre is listed in my party after the teleport (he is in the party summary list). Remember that you teleport to the altar alone. When you come back, Dupre is listed as in the party (although I have never seen him in the room there). Pretty neat trick for a dead guy!

I have found a workaround: After teleporting back to the shrine doors (and without moving) save the game. I then crashed it by moving. Upon restarting the game, Dupre was not in the party and I was able to move as normal. I found my fifth party member (an automaton) and was able to get him to join again. At that point all was well again.

I have seen this problem with Exult1.1.beta3 and the latest snapshot (Jan 11, 2004). I am using Windows XP Professional. I am playing with SI with SS from the Ultima Collection CD.

I fixed the crash. But the real problem is that for some reason, Dupre's ID# is 31 when it should be, I think, 0. To fix this, use the F2 cheat on him (he's NPC #1), then go to the flags screen, hit 'V', and enter 0. Do this before teleporting.
