Alagner the invincible

I got Alagner's notebook and went to talk to the wisps. Afterward I returned to New Magnacia to return his notebook. I walked in expecting to see a very gruesome scene, but Alagner was still alive. When I talk to him he still has the "answers" option. When I look in the crystal ball I do see Elizabeth, Abraham, and the other 2 fellowship people killing him. Is this going to affect the plot later on? I would report it to the bugtracker, but I don't know how to attach a save game.

Did you enter through the sidedoor? Sometimes it can fail to trigger the egg that kills him. This bug is in the original Ultima. It wont affect anything later, but I think you can leave and go back in from the south entrance and fix it.

I did enter through the southern door. I'll just keep playing, but i was looking forward to seeing his gruesome corpse. oh well...

he is no longer invincible. I played my saved game, and this time when i went to see him after i talked to the timelord (and after i had already seen him alive when he shouldn't have been) and Alagner was splattered all over the place. it's strange, i had already tried this before and it hadn't worked.

I think this is an old bug that also existed in the original. As SBX pointed out, it might be affected by the way you approach the house.

Well... I know this bug is in the original, -but- I've also seen Alagner resurrect himself, while his corpse is still on the floor. He's been traipsing over his own corpse, happily brewing potions to his heart's content. Something is very buggy with that place
