Good day,
I have the Ultima7 gold CD. Now, how do I get it to work in FreeBSD? I copy all files to HD, unzip what there is to unzip, point the exult.cfg to the folder and... nothing. I don't get to that fabled menu, I get no window, nothing.

Are exult.flx, exult_bg.flx and exult_si.flx in /usr/local/share/exult ?

Which exult version is this and which compiler (and version) did you use to build it?

hm, I let it sit there for about an hour now and finally out of nowhere I get an "exult" window. Only that it's completely black.

A black window in SDL is usually because some filepath is incorrect, as far as I know.

Are you familiar enough with gdb or strace or similar tools to see what exult is doing during that hour?
