Curious, can I just copy the files from the install media and it works (only way to do it here given that this isn't a Windows/Dos box) or do I have to actually install it and then point exult to some specific file? The documentation isn't overly clear on that point...

yeah, that documentation guy is a lazy and forgetful one...

Seriously I never bothered much with installation instructions but in short form:
if you have the diskettes version of U7 you need to install the files and if you have CD-Version you should be able to just copy the game dirs over.
