new party formation feature request

Remember how the exult engine used to implement a new way of party formation (namely party members would roam around where the Avatar is walking) but later got taken out? I just think perhaps we can make an option where players can choose and change at will, during the game, of which option they want.

1. Classic
This is the classic party formation in the original game.

2. Line
Party members play "Follow the leader", and repeats the avatar's steps (useful in areas that have bad fields/traps, poison, or shape things on the ground). Exception: if the avatar retraces his/her steps exactly, the party members will also retrace (up to 100 steps or some arbitary minor limit?).

3. Scout
Similar to how exult has attempted with the party members roaming around, but if one of the party members encounter an hostile enemy (and is attacked by the hostil), he/she will run back to the Avatar screaming "Enemy incoming" or something. The other party members will also come back to the avatar, but not screaming, so you'll know from which direction the enemy is coming.

Hmm I tend to agree that it would be cool to be able to switch between party formations, although, I dont think you will ever see me do that, I truly like the origional party formation in u7, I loved it because it made your party look huge.

Hmmm but some suggestions for some other party formations.

Box formation, Colum formation, heck there are so many formations, just check out military sites, they have enough info on that.

I'm asking an *ability to choose* the formation, with the original still being one of the choices.

In general I *do* prefer the original formation over the alternative that was implemented earlier. d-:

Trouble is, the older Exult formation never worked perfectly, and sometimes ate a lot of CPU.

I think it should become a choice. I kind of miss the older Exult party formation. I was one of the people that wanted the original back, but the alternate party formation had it's moments. It definitely put you in a better position to prepare for battle.

We could probably put it back as an option. I just don't want to keep fixing bugs in it...
