I've already submitted this in the bug tracker, but thought I would mention it here as well, in case some other players have encountered this and found a workaround.
In SI, I go to Fawn and Dupre makes his stupid toast to Lord British and gets us put on trial. Everything seems to go well, but after the trial, there is trouble when going downstairs to a cellar or dungeon. The Avatar goes down the stairs, the but none of the Companions follow. For example, if I leave the court and try to go back to the cell where Dupre had been kept, then Iolo, Shamino, and Dupre stay in the room upstairs, while the Avatar goes on to the dungeon. The also happens for the dungeons under the Pikemens' towers and the cellar of the Sleeping Bull inn.
Things I noted:
- In the console output, the message "Stack underflow" appears twice as the party enters the witness box in the courtroom.
- After going downstairs, the messages "Shamino failed to take a step" and "Iolo failed to take a step" appear in the console output whenever the Avatar moves, but there is no such message for Dupre, even though he is stuck in the same place as Iolo and Shamino.
The bug tracker page is at
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.ph ... tid=102335 and it includes more detail about my setup, as well as links to my savegames.
I'd be quite happy to have some sort of workaround, such as notes on what bytes I might need to edit in my savegame, if it can be done so simply.
Well, now that business is taken care of...
Exult is great! I just played Black Gate using it and had no problems, and it was quite nice not to have to boot back and forth from DOS and my normal OS. My DOS machine normally runs RedHat 8 and is my internet gateway. When in DOS, I'm offline, so being able to run Exult and play the game natively under Slackware on my desktop was really nice, The improved graphics and sound were quite pleasant as well, make no mistake!
My compliments to everyone on the Exult team. You made my first experience of U7 quite nice.

Re: SI: After the Fawn trail I can't go downstairs
Confirmed.
At least when you teleport the companions should be with you at once, but they seem to be stuck there in the oracle's house.

Re: SI: After the Fawn trail I can't go downstairs
Are they still members of the party? I seem to remember them being automatically removed from the party during the trial, and I had to ask them to rejoin afterwards. This was a bug that I never was able to fix.
I'll try to take a look at this in the next few days.

hmm, they still appear in the face-stats, but may be that is also that bug.

Have you try in the cave of Sleeping Bull. That happen there too
Re: SI: After the Fawn trail I can't go downstairs
Hmm, I tried again with the savegames provided by Eris (by the way, thanks for the very extensive and informative bug report) and the stooges are indeed in the party. When you talk to them you have the option "leave" instead of join.
Strangely enough, though, once you talked to them (doubleclicking and then immediately pressing bye again is enough) they will then follow you again.
Achile: What do you mean? With the savegames provided by Eris? Or have you encountered that yourself? If so, please give us a savegame.

Re: SI: After the Fawn trail I can't go downstairs
Sounds like the problem is that their schedules are set to something other than 'follow Avatar' by the Fawn Trial's usecode.
Re: SI: After the Fawn trail I can't go downstairs
Talking to them worked for me too, so now I can continue my game. I am a very happy Avatar!
I'm glad the bug report was useful. I used to be a programmer myself, so I tried to include the kinds of information that I would have wanted.

Re: SI: After the Fawn trail I can't go downstairs
I've looked at this (and I'm >really< tired of watching that trial:-)), and the problem is that at the end of the trial, the party members still are set to 'wait' mode, which means they shouldn't move at all. This only happens for the 2nd half; at the end of the first, they're set back to 'follow Avatar'.
I'm not sure if this is a bug in the script, or if there's something we're missing. Has anyone played the original lately?
In any case, as Dominus pointed out, talking to them causes them to go back into the right mode. This is all controlled by the game script ('usecode').
