...when I first found out about the debug menu's for U7 when it was released on DOS, it added a whole new level of replayability to the game for me. I enjoyed making characters join who were not supposed to, and changing how I looked. I also was obsessed with changing NPCs schedules (you should see my pile of post-its with locations and npc #s). Now that I've discovered this incredible program, I've kind of dipped back into that. So here's my question.
With Black Gate (the only one I've really played so far), I was unable to use the tool to change what the Avatar looked like. I souhgt out the number for Elizabeth, and tried to change my Avatar to look the same... instead she looked like one of the giant snake statues from Serpent Isle. The number appeared to be the same, it was I think the frame that was different. I think Liz was 875 (or something):00 whereas the Avatar defaulted to 875:32. Does anyone have any idea about this? When I examined the individual frames for that object, it only went up to 31.
So now I'm going to be playing Serpent Isle, and I'm worried the same thing will happen. I know the debug menu for BG was never as robust as the SI one, but I didn't think that was the problem here.
The other thing, and this was more of a curiosity than anything else, was that I made Horance the Liche join me (as part of his redemption), and he turned out to be an excellent companion. Why is that? Because he'd teleport to whatever enemy I needed to kill, and attack it from there. Does this AI only apply to him, or only mages perhaps? I thought it was a very interesting touch, and was a nice couterpart to Jaana and Spark just trudging along with their weapons out.
And while on the subject of NPCs becoming companions, Trellek the Emp is NPC number 6 (or 8, something low), placing him right between the other companions who do join you. Does anyone know whether he was inteded to join you or not? I know he discusses it, but his wife turns him down (wench). I'd have liked to have seen more non-Human NPCS in U7, I really liked getting that gargoyle in False Prophet.
Anyway, I was just curious about the transforming thing. If anyone knows a solution, or whether I'm out of luck, I'd love to hear it. If the issue's been addressed before, I'll do a search too.

P.S. I've stopped playing Sims 2, and all these brand new console games just to play U7 again. I wish Gariott knew the impact these games had on me. So I tip my hat to you for allowing me to play it again.

Re: Query about Debug Menu...
Yes, Trellek was meant to join you, but then left that out for some reason.
Download Exult Studio and install it, then use it to check out gumps.vga. You will see Trellek's inventory gump.
