Venom Hits in U7

It has been literally years since I was last able to play Ultima 7 , and before I go on, I really want to congradulate all of the people working on Exult! Talk about a pet project...I don't think I have seen such a professional development from game fans! I am truly AMAZED!

Okay... on to the meat of this thread...

Way back when, when I played U7, I ALWAYS had fun with the silver serpent venom found in several places in the game. When I found all I could find, I overdosed my characters on it (usually about 8 vials a piece), and once the effects wore off, I had super-human characters that could lift 200 or more stones (depending on how much venom that got). I have searched your site for info, and the message boards, but nobody brought this up..venom doesn't seem to work in Exult. In fact, I can't seem to get the temporary effects working either! When the venom is taken, the character's stats immediately drop. Is there something I have forgotten to do when playing with the stuff, or is this a "glitch", or otherwise? I hope I have been clear in my question. It is just an aspect of the game I am truly missing! I would appreciate any feedback! Thank you

Thanks, I really appreciate your effort. Also, I was playing U7earlier, and, unfortunately, I am not sure what caused the error, but I had probably..oh..30 gems in my party, and when I spoke to the jeweller in Britain, everything was going fine. He said "I will give you 30 gold a piece", and I clicked, and the game blacked out and returned me to Windows. I believe a possible cause of this was that there was not enough room in my party for all of the gold he was going to give. It was nothing major, I just took the gems to him in small increments and everything worked fine. I just thought you all should know.

hm, that should work actually. Are you running the snapshots? If not please download it and try how it works with that one.

As for the Venom, I noticed this myself but always forgot about it myself as I never used it in the original...

No, I hadn't installed the snapshot update, but I have now, and it seems to be working fine. Do you believe the venom effect can be fixed?

well, Jeff is taking a look and I guess if he can do it without breaking stuff it will be fixed.

And as I wrote in the FAQ about bug submitting, always try out the latest snapshot first. Helps us save time
