Ultima7 damaged diskettes

Hello everybody! I'm a long time Ultima fan with a big problem... When I tried to reinstall The Black Gate after many years I discovered that my 6th disk was damaged... Now I have two corrupted files, STATIC/XFORM.TBL and STATIC/USECODE, and Ultima7 and Exult don't work...

I am searching for someone who has the original version (without Forge of Virtue) that can send me those two files please...

I think that if I ask Origin I would not get any answer! Thanks a lot everybody!!!

I know Origin is just a shadow of its former self. But about 3 years ago, I found a copy of Martian Dreams in a used-software store, and one of its disks was bad. I emailed Origin, and they sent me a replacement for free!

there are also pirate site(s) where you can get all the ultima games(don't look at me like that. i have the ultima collection!), but i don't support piracy:) though i think it would be ok in your case.

Since OSI isn't making money from U7 anymore I wouldn't worry about piracy. It boarders on abandonware (or Exult wouldn't exist). There are a few sites which do have it none of which I remember. Sadly I've never seen a copy without Forge of Virtue so you might be stuck with it. I know the feeling since I bought a copy on CD and have since lost the CD's. :/

As we've said before, the term abandonware is nowhere near legality.
Copyright on software is the same as copyright on other intellectual property, and most of the time it's over 25 years.

Email me and I'll give you the url to the 6th disk for blackgate on my webspace. It's exactly as it comes off the floppy disk.

I went through my original disks today of just the standalone blackgate and serpent isle (without the add-ons to both) and I found my u7 disks appeard ok, but with SI I found that 2,3,4+6 were stuffed.

Any pointers to those ones would be nice. Don't worry, I'm not a pirate, I probably own the most ultima sets released here. I've actually paid more than once for ultima7+SI in other words.

Same here. I bought the original disk versions and the add-ons all seperate, then I bough the ultima7 collection, then I actually got ultima7+fov on another cd games pack, then I got them both again when I bought ultima9 dragon edition.

got them on Disc, then on the EA Classic CD, and finally on the Ultima Collection.
But then.. I also got U5 and U6 thrice: single, with U4 in the first trilogy then Ultima Collection.
just try to explain this to a mother, father or spouse.

Heh, I only got u1-u6 twice though. In an ultima package that came with all the maps and manuals hard copied, and with u9 dragon ed.

I got u8 twice. I got the original standalone cd edition, then also in another games pack someplace. I think it came with u9 as well as the other ultima's.

I got uw1 twice. I got it on original disks, then I got it again when I bought the uw collection. (uw1+uw2) on cd.

Can't have too many copies of a good thing. Pity I'm missing those disks of the original SI disk version though. Damn it when floppies go bad.

That seemed to be a big problem with my original disks - i had to have both U7 and U7SI disks replaced in their own right. I have the 3 1/2" versions of U7, U8, + expansions and speech packs (!)

I have 7 copies of the complete U7 collection, as well as 4 copies of U1-6, and 1 (that's enough) copies of U9. I also have 3 c64 copies of U4, 2 c64 copies of U5 and 5 copies of U6 for C64, Amiga, and IBm.

I feel so compulsive about this. But the gist is, you can still buy U7 from a hellova lot of locations - and it's worth every damn penny.

I got the Original U7, the original SI, the 1st release of the 'Complete Ultima 7', the 2nd release of 'The Complete Ultima 7' (gold box, because my CD from the first one got damaged), then I got the Ultima Collection when it came out, then I got the other copy which came with U9.

No one's collection beats the guy that runs the Origin Museum though. Not to mention the fact that he's had the real Iolo visit, hehe.

I got most of the Ultimas three times - and the rest twice

I got the original releases of U1,U3,U4,U5,U6,U7,U7-SI,U8,U9,UW1,UW2 plus the spin-offs Savage Empire and Martian Dreams..

Then I got both the triology collections (first one is U1,U2,U3 second one is U4,U5,U6)

Then I got an extra copy of U5 original release plus an extra copy of Savage Empire... oh, and I nearly forgot.. an extra box-less version of U7-SI...

I also have U6,U7 and UW1 as re-releases (but still on floppies and in boxes etc..).. and a CD version of U8 somewhere..

Finally U9 came with the Ultima collection..

I think that's about it.. hmm, while I wrote this post I realized that this means I actually own U5 FOUR times... scary
