Disappearing items in BG

When playing Exult in BG, several Items have disappeared (namely the GLowing stone Lord British gives you and a ring of regeneration). Can anyone explain this?

The Stone disappears when you use it at the Isle of Fire, if I remember correctly. This is supposed to happen.

Ring of Regeneration should disappear after it wears out, I think.

My dim memory is that Usecode will randomly make rings go away when you're wearing them, or maybe while you're sleeping. I do recall them disappearing in the original U7.

Also,

Depending on the version of BG, there was one other bug/"undocumented feature" which did this. I seem to recall that in earlier versions, objects would disappear from your back pack also. This was got around by taking your backpack off while sleeping.

Didn't this also happen in the original UW? (Stuff randomly disappearing, not the rings thing.)

there was a patch released by Origin that fixed the objects dissapearing in UW, any CD version of the game has the patch

Yeah, it's an older thread, but I have a little to add.

First, I think the glowing stone you get is labeled as a gem, and if you go to sell gems in Britain you'll sell the glowing stone as well.

Second, how long do the rings of regen, invis, and protection last? Thanks.
