Exult and Win XP

I downloaded and installed Exult today and was very excited about the possibility of being able to play Ultima 7 again. Unfortunately, I've had no luck. Here's what I've observed.

1. Installation seemed to go fine.
2. Started Exult and got to openning frame asking which game I want to play - BG 0r SI. There are red Xs on the small icons to the left of BG & SI. Selected BG
3. Get to opening BG frame and select 'New Game' - seems OK so far.
4. Get to character creation page. There is no mouse cursor anymore at this page. I can make my selections using keyboard. Finally, I select Jouney Onwards.
5. Exult crashes and I'm thrown back out to Windows.

I'm running XP Pro on a Gateway P3-850. My version of Ultima are from the Ultima Collection CD. Here are my key files:

Additional system info:

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200
Sound Card: Creative SB Live! Value - I seemed to get sound just fine for the few moments Exult was working.

Exult Version: 0.98rc1

put it all into a folder that doesn't have any spaces in the path. I think this was fixed not long ago, but I still do it out of habit anyway.

Hmm, I think you should put Exult in both seperate folders (SI and BG) and try them seperatly. I had that same problem before, in both though. I fixed it, but I can't remember how. I run XP too. I don't know of any other problem. Check for spaces in the path again.

By the way, why are your cheats active?
