Which is better to wear in getting a higher armor class?

any input would be appreciated, thanks!

Higher ac is better. A pair of rings of protection give you 4 ac. Magic gauntlets give you 3.

Don't protection rings eventually vanish after they run out of charge? (I know they didn't in 5 and 6, only regen and invisibility rings did, but I think all of them disappear in 7)
