First off, I don't know how to thank you guys (accepting donations?). I probably spent a good year of my life (9th grade) playing through BG/SI. A couple of years ago I tried to get it running again, but obviously couldn't under win2k. I decided to build a dos pc out of old hardware, and unfortunatly never got around to it. I just happened to stumble upon your sourceforge site. I am still in awe what you have done.
I have just one quick question; is there any possible way to import my old savegames? believe it or not I still have them, and would love to start where I left off in SI. I realize this is covered in the FAQ, I guess my question is; is this something that has been considered for Exult, or is even possible?
Thanks,
Jake

Re: savegames
We considered it and the answer is in the FAQ. That'S why it is there so it doesn't have to be asked again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again

Re: savegames
It's possible, but rather difficult. *grin* Someone would have to decode their savegame format entirely, then somehow integrate it's loading into exult, correctly translating the data from the original format, to something exult understands. A rather daunting undertaking for IMO, so little benefit.

Re: savegames
I like the idea of donations!
Maybe the developers will set up a list of books/software they would like to have and the generous users will offer them as thanks for the work done.
I've seen it being done elsewhere so it must work.
I'm too recent in the team to make any request but some people have worked _real_ hard for a long time and a little gesture like that might be encouraging!

Re: savegames
Or buy books we've written:-)
My preference or hope: Someday, Origin will hire us to do an 'official' release of U7 with Exult. But I have no contacts there.

Re: savegames
I don't know about buying books, but it would be really easy for you guys to setup a paypal account for donations.
You could keep a list of resources needed (books, hardware, software) and allocate the money as you feel it best serves you, or just buy dinner and a movie for all the hard work!
Either way, I'm sure I'm not the only one out there willing to donate.

Accepting money is a real quick way to get lawyers involved. It's.... unwise.
