If you ask me the easiest way to make a remake would be to use the morrowind engine. Ya it would be a FPS but...i wouldn't mind going around u7 in an fps...be a neat change. especially if you through in some funky pixel shading...
#1. excellent gfx.
#2. easy map making/item editing it's so simple you can be making full maps in hours and the full games comes will all editing tools...
#3. I don't like UO or DS's engines.

or wait for the new morrowind engine. those screenshots look unbelievable...

just some thoughts.

The trouble was that the U8 team had to find a way to implement platform
game physics using a mouse&keyboard interface. It was a valiant try, I
admit, but the original way was so blasted stupid!
However, I did love the game because it allowed you to get over obstacles
in different ways. If you remember, in the original game before they put the
keyring in the barrel at the docks, the first one you could get required jumping
onto a sky-walk and then entering a locked building.

Morrowind was the third engine in the Elder Scrolls series, monkey! Besides, you could play it in the third person. It wasn't a first person shooter anyway?
Forget to do you homework? :P

rtfm:

- read the fine manual
- read the fantastic manual
- read the fabulous manual
- read the famous manual
- read the friendly manual
- read the freaking manual

- read the faq, mister
- read the faq 'n manual

- realtime traffic flow measurement
(RFCs 2720-2724)

...

...so what's wrong with that?

@dominus:
anyway, someone could misunderstand it and feel offended, so maybe you should replace it...

No, Dominus' signature is fine as it is.

If someone feels offended, it's out of his/her own ignorance and/or negatively-inclined imagination.

@gradilla dragon:

i'm absolutely sure that dominus doesn't want to offend anyone, knowing that he is one of the most polite people in the exult forums.
but, nevertheless, many people tend to misunderstand things, and i would be very glad, when this forum stays as polite as it is.

We all know what RTFM stands for, it doesn't matter the "friendly forms"
that came upon later. Like GFY and WTF it still holds it original meaning, and
is a very insulting and unfriendly response to someone who asked an honest
question.
Now I think that Dominus put it in his sig as a friendly jab, and I found it rather hilarious that he chose to post his commment on manners with that
in the sig. And Gradilla, you are crossing the line by calling me ignorant or
suggesting that I have a negatively-inclined imagination: as I said before, we
all know what RTFM really stands for--any other explanation are mealy-mouthing. I can understand you impression, since I used o_O instead
of :), but I thought pointing out the incongruence of the message and the
.sig of the messenger was more important.
And excuse you for taking offense, I'm sure it was out of ignorance or
"wrong" imagination.

Who nowadays still takes offence at being told to RTFM should stay away from computers IMO. Also in this forum we have long ago dumbed the meaning down to "Read The FAQ, Man". If you don't believe me STFM (search the forum, man).
Furthermore I find that little debate very hilarious.
So when I respond to Skutarth calling someone monkey and tell him to mind his manners a debate about my f***ing sig starts. Hilarious

Well. I meant "monkey" as in "silly". As in "You silly monkey!"
Don't you think monkies are silly? I didn't mean to offend you. I even stuck a stupid emoticon (I hate emoticon) of the tongue-out face to show the sarcasm in the text. Really... as soon as I put in a bit of sarcasm, this post explodes into off-topic talk over whether or not what I said was good matters. Obviously, you could have taken it seriously. I didn't mean to make you mad! I'm honestly sorry.

I'm not sure that even calling someone silly monkey is the right thing to do. And the tongue-out emo is also not the best choice. But I see that you meant nothing by it and at least you gave us a funny end to the thread :)

Re: Single Player Game using UO engine?

Hmmm, I'm fairly certain it's monkeys that make the "ooh-ooh-ahh-ahh-ahh!"
sound. But that might've been chimps.
You're not remembering Earthbound, by any chance? The monkey that chewed bubblegum?

In all honesty, though, Ultima Online was well done. It was the players and the way that it was run that ruined the experience. I definitely agree that it would be great for a single-player game.

I agree with the idea that being able to play in the UO world as a single player would be awesome. I really couldn't care less about the actual plot, since I usually ignore the plot anyhow in most of the Ultima games.

so, please don't be offended then the best thing for you would be a real UO-client either on an Origin shard or on a free shard.
Plot is what Ultima is about. If you don't really care for a plot then UO is right for you.
