Re: Shapes.vga

The 'ipack' (image packer tool) still needs testing, and I also need to write a usage document. For your application, you'll store your files as .png's and provide a script that lists their names and shape #'. Then the user will run 'ipack' to replace those shapes in his/her 'shapes.vga' file (hopefully after first making a backup of the original).

As for 'palette merging', I found that the Gimp doesn't really do it. Its 'merge' only combines identical colors, and can end up creating a palette with more than 256 colors (and what good is that?). Searching with Google, the only tool I found was a product called 'Debabelizer'. But it's around $300 US.

So I see another somewhat fun program to write. I'm also starting to see that 'graphics utilities' is a fairly big project by itself.

IPS, not IPC.

You can download it at
http://sl1me.lfx.org/files/ipsit.zip

There are also several other tools that create and apply IPS patches
out there, including SNEStool and UCON and plain old IPS.EXE.

Please note that I didn't personally write the program listed above,
I had a friend write it for me because there was a specific need I had
and he just added it into it.
