I have read a few reviews about this game on the net and it is being compared to Ultima 7. Was wondering if any of you have played it and if so how is it?

Heard it is a bad Diablo2-clone, so I wont touch it!
IIRC theirs a demo floating around in the net, try that if you dare. From the screens Ive seen so far, it doesnt look very promising.

It is NOT a diablo clone! I am not going to give a full preview/review, but from what I have played of it, my character is level 10, it is a good game. It does not have the same level of interaction that U7 did, but it is a good non linear game.
RazorBlade - you should read a few more reviews of the game, and don't let the demo fool you. All the demo is, basically, is the first dungeon. You don't get to hit the cool non-linear parts until the ful game.
I recomend it.

Alright, I only read 2 reviews(from mags who normally have opposite points of view) and both said its "like Diablo", "quite ugly" and "not as good as Diablo". So I didnt care.
I looked forward to it a long time- until it was no longer called "LMK". It looked like it would become an Ultima in the DSA-universe(its german, dont know how popular it is in other countries thoug), kind of DSA part 4 - on crack or something;).
Still, even if it has nothing to do with Blizzard-ware, I am not so excited about what I saw, non-linerity is not everything, for me its a feature(Dont blame me!=))
I think a great story and an involving atmosphere is much more important. Dont know how much this game has of it.

Personally, I've been playing DD for a week or two now, and I can highly recommend it. It doesnt have quite the same level of interactivity as U7, or as big a gameworld (still fairly hefty though) and the combat is smack bang ripped from diablo1/2 (which can be a good or bad thing depending on your tastes - there are a few slight improvements on the diablo style). Aside from that though, this game has great atmosphere, a half decent (if bit unoriginal) story, nice graphics and a terrific soundtrack. Quests are pretty good, for the most part fairly linear (thankfully not many of em annoying fed-ex quests though) but there are a few that stand out from the crowd (an encounter with a con-artist merchant, and the church desecration ones come to mind).
All in all, I'd say its worth a shot (heard the demo is a bit pants though - not actually tried it myself - bought the game cause of all the good reviews).
Speaking of which its getting pretty good reviews across the board :
