Serpent without Silver Seed

Hey, I was wondering how to remove [if possible] the silver seed addon. I have my original disks to play the Black Gate without the FoV addon, but i bought The Complete Ultima 7, which has the silver seed addon already applied to the game. There must be some way to remove the addon.

okay, i've looked into it, and the addon just looks like it writes over the game files in the .static/ folder so i guess it's not possible to remove. does anyone here have the orignial serpent without silver seed? i just need the static folder -- not piracy, since i already got many copies of the game. just not without silver seed =(

Why do you want to play SI without the SS Add-On anyway? If you don't want SS, just don't engage the SS part of SI...

well, the whole thing is different. like the endgame sequence and all that. without silver seed the lang get distroyed. the story line is different

There is nothing different afaik. Ok, you have one more conversation with Karnax, you get one more item but other than that there is no additional conversation and the endgame sequence is the same as well.

Silver Seed only adds an *optional* side quest where you wind up with boosted stats and a few useful items. Otherwise, it doesn't change anything in Serpent Isle.

In that respect, it's just like Forge of Virtue and Black Gate.

Swearing is bad. Didn't your mom teach you that? d-:

If the SI w/o SS has a different ending sequence, I'd imagine MicroDragon
would've put it in his theme package so many years ago...

I have played SI w/o SS a long time ago, so my memory might not serv.
However, I don't remember anything about SI being destroyed or not.
The Avatar gets thrown into the Void, and would have no knowledge of
what transpired on SI afterwards.

So, even if it is destroyed, it still would not have been in the ending
sequence.

Also, I have a chinese edition of the "Balancing the Scales", the SI walkthrough. In the tale by Iolo, after Avatar got thrown into the void, the
Campanions were busy helping the monks to heal/resurrect the population.
While this is definitely made up (ie, not explicitly shown in the game), if
SI *did* get destroyed, then this construed story won't make any sense
at all. The walthrough didn't have any reference to SS at all, so I assume
it was published before SS came out.

Based on the above 3 reasons (1. MicroDragon, 2. even if destroyed still
wouldn't be in end sequence, 3. chinese edition of balancing the scales),
I strongly support the theory that the ending sequence with and without
SS are identical. d-:

BTW, candyman, I don't htink SS gives you boosted stats. I think it just
gives you tones of experience points, enough to pump someone from
Lv8 to Lv9. Keyring is really nice. I don't like the ring of reagents as much,
only used it when I'm in dungeon of freedom.

The endgame sequence is the same toad `sMoke again afaik
(I could load the original 3.5" diskettes to find out, but I'm not sure I could be stuffed, and I'd bet my collection of cloth maps that I'm right)

I've gotten hold of a copy of "Balancing the Scales" the english version - (I never had until after I'd finished Serpent, and before SS was released-promise) which is told from Thoxa's point of view, before the Companions arrived.

In the english version Pan Sola, there is no description of the endgame sequence, or what happens after. Sounds almost as if the chinese version you have is based upon elements of the original plot - could this be?
It would be pretty damned interesting if that was so.

Could both of you preserve 'Balancing the Scales' forever by scanning it?

I am particularly upset with myself for losing my copy and really hope to see it again...

(maybe it's too big a request.."

Gotta preserve the knowledge. If I can get round to it - and if I can legally and if its not already up somewhere, i'll see what I can do.

IT would be very interesting to have the oficial clue books of Ultima scanned or at least a transcript of them. I asked time ago in The Wayward Avatar boards about that. I only have the spanish version of the Underworld 1 clue book (Mysteries of the Abyss I think)

I got the idea of scanning books from www.theunderdogs.org
Apparently, she scanned all the gamebooks that she read during her youth and posted them up for download.

Those gamebooks are really hard to find anymore. My favourite was 'Interplanetary Spy' series, I thought I will never see them again until I found Underdogs. Anyone else read them before?

In Ultima 9 there is a book saying that the people and the Avatar's companions ended up going back to Britan. So ther ya go, everyone was saved.
