Thanks for that!

I read through the Ultima 7 log and here are some things I thought were real interessting:

"Ultima 8 should require about the same as Ultima 7...
something like a 16 MHz 386 with 2-4 MB of memory and a mouse"

:) I had a 486 with 25 Mhz and 4 MB and it was real HARD to play ...

"Bounty Hunter"

Does anybody know anything about this? Never heard about it ...

"One of the items you mentioned in the interview was future technologies related to interacting in the..
(9-34,Crusader) Is multi-player Ultima in the future (I seem to remeber this
as..."

(9-9,Game Bytes) Ultima world, such as VR goggles, etc.
-"contains technology innovations much along the lines to which you referred..."

I remember when everybody thought those ugly goggles will be normal in a couple of years.. Back then a friend played Duke3D with those and a glove and it wasnt real great. Im glad we are not all looking like some spacy geeks with a big helmet sitting in the cellar..or are we?Hmm..;)

"Phoenix Force, a Strike Commander sequel"

Was that renamed to pacific strike or was it cancelled?

"(9-4,Lord British & Co.) Okay...
At this time, the 3D technology seen in Underworld cannot quite give you
the holistic world view and interaction...
that we enjoy in Ultima 7...
The number of items to interact with must be kept low to keep performance
high in a game like Underworld...
but the gap closes...
I am sure that not too far in the future, these two product lines will
merge..."

That is Ultima 9 I think. Too bad, it was crippled by the means of E and A.

What came to be called Crusader: No Remorse I believe.

Are you sure about that? I never got the impression that Bounty Hunter was Crusader (or vice versa)

Yep, about as sure as you can be. Either Bounty Hunter was scrapped and all of the enhancement to the Ultima 8 engine done for Bounty Hunter were then used in Crusader, or Bounty Hunter is Crusader.

Seconded.

Even if you just go by the dates:

"Ultima 8 will be out for the next X-mas... Bounty Hunter to follow soon thereafter..."

Ultima 8 was released in 1994, No Remorse in 1995.

FIY, a more readable version of the U7 interview is here:

For some reason the link above had it formated in a rather odd way.
