Annoying combat music

I just started playing SI once again using 1.00 and whenever the avatar attacks it plays really annoying music, not the usual combat music but one I had never heard before. I also hear the normal combat music, which I like. The annoying one is only heard when the avatar attacks. Can anyone help me? Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm... could it be playing the fleeing music? I think I've had something similar to what you've described happen to me before (at least up to the 0.9.x series).

I get that music too, but only in Serpent Isle, and it goes away at some point in the game (I don't remember where).

It plays every time the avatar attacks, and repeats every time the avatar attacks so you get about 3 versions of it playing at the same time. It sounds like a crappy casio synthesizer playing some fanfare.

I never heard that music anywhere else in the game.

I'm using Exult 1.0 on Win2k w/ Soundblaster Live

Yea, it does play like 3 times at once. I disabled music to see if it would go away but it was still there.

I spied this one, too. It seems to be stored in the sfx-packages (thats why it doesn’t go away when you switch of the music...)

I think someone has already entered a bug about it. (And I've noticed it too, but haven't looked at the problem yet.)

That "annoying combat music" (fanfare) is supposed to play when the Avatar kills something single-handed. In order to get it to play in the original, you had to leave your party behind and take something out. Don't know why it keeps occuring like that; must be user error :) heehee I love saying that.
