I'm currently playing through serpents isle. I think I may have found a bug, but it could be that I'm just retarded or something.

Anyways, I want to get my spellbook. I went and talked to Febidablio in the moonshade mage-school thing, and he told me to go to Monk Isle and pick the roots from around the northern swamp. Anyways, I make my way to the island's swamp, but I can't find any roots. Its almost like I missed a trigger, or skipped a trigger.

Please help, I don't want to have to play through the game again.

You need to talk to one of the monks about the tides to trigger the mandrake. (He'll tell you when the tides are right.)

I found this site after I thought I knew everything about U7 and discovered several secrets that I missed, so its worth a look even if you can finish the game with your eyes closed

and
A Ultima 7 and Serpent Isle Gameplay FAQ

The same questions about the games tend to come up time and time again. Especially the one about the mandrake roots.

this is actually a good idea. Another section called "Gameplay FAQ that are not bugs in Exult"
There are some of these that fit that description already in the FAQ and a new section should be perfect.
I'm "volunteering" to do that as soon as I'm back from Maui
So hopefuly in March such a thing will be found in the FAQ.
I'm noting this in my "to-do-list".

Only problem is that almost no one reads the faq anyway. But well, it is always a pleasure to tell people to RTFM
