Slow walk on Zaurus.

OK. I must admit... After realizing I can play an ol' favorite on my linux boxes, I couldn't get enough.

So... I installed it on my Zaurus.

I must admit, the IPK isn't an "install and go" based install. The Keys were not mapped in the orientation of the screen so I had to edit that. On top of that, some folders had to be symlinked manually.

But after I got it working nicely I noticed a problem.

When navigating the world using the keypad, I can't hold down a direction for too long (2-3secs). Otherwise the system slows down to a near halt. As soon as I depress the button, it speeds up. Therefore I need to 'tap' away to walk around. "Very annoying".

I suspect that this is a keyboard buffer problem. Is this bug common or should I try and investigate the matter closely on my zaurus?

I look forward to the valueable help I've been getting here.

Thanks in advance guys and gals.

fun
I've never noticed a problem like that.

Regarding the mapping, did you install the version of SDL by Alexandre Courbot? That's the one you've got to use at it properly reorient the key mapping of the keypad.

You can found the packages there: [url]http://www.gnurou.org/software/zaurus/f ... rm.ipk[url]

You can search his feed for the SDL_mixer package (required).

As for your keyboard/taping problem, I've never heard something like that before. Maybe you have a lot of programs installed that take up memory space. I don't really know what to say since I've never experienced this pb.

Thanks for the link. Upgrading from 1.2.5 to 1.2.6 fixed it. Even when holding down on the direction pad.
