Hi everybody,
is it possible to install on the same PC both Exult 1.1 and 1.0?
I think so, I took a look at the 1.0 installation EXE file and all the needed files may be extracted from it (Exult.exe, sdl.dll, .cfg, data and images folders). This makes me think I could easily create a dedicated folder where manually copy these files and Ultima games.
While, when updating 1.1 with the latest snapshot, it should update only the 1.1 folder (I suppose it takes the right path from HKLM\Software\Exult in the registry - Yes, working under Windows) without modifying the 1.0 data files.
This is correct?
Reason for double installation: 1.0 for normal play, 1.1 for fun and try the new features.

Re: Exult multiple installations?
Exult itself would have no problems with this. I have such a setup here myself with about 4 different versions
I don't know how the windows installer would handle things, though.

It also works with me. Can you give a snapshot to a specific one though? That never worked for me...

I decided to give it a try, and as far as I can tell, it works this way: if you install a snapshot with the self-installing EXE you download at sourceforge, each further installation will upgrade this one only.
Each other manual installation (i.e. extracting the files manually) will not be affected.
So probaly the installer checks Windows registry entry to know which is path of the installation to be upgraded.
