the stealing system needs an overhaul.

Don't know if this is on your list for improvements but here are some suggestions:
* Decrease the tolerance that people have for the avatar stealing (by half at least!)
* Make display case shattering a criminal offence so the shop keepers call the guards.
In Iolo's shop in britian, being invisable and smashing the cases used to make that kid say "ahh specters!" "ghosts!!" or something like that, this doesn't happen with exult and should be rectified.
* Make it so the Avatar's team members get upset when the avatar steals (this was an important part of the game in the original as the Avatar's would attack or leave him if he was not virtuous)
* Make the containers that have a NPC's items in them counted as stealing if they are moved around or taken. (this would container that holds an item that an NPC gets angry for stealing)
* Overall just make it generally harder and to steal, for example I can go into Iolo's bow shop and break open the containers and steal the crossbows without that little kid saying a word. This is too easy and presents no more challenge.
------ Just on another note, see if you can clean up the party formation a little. When party members step in front of you it gets very annoying! they also tend to bunch up and block each other for a slight second.
