-The chest can be opened. I don't remember what's in it, I think it was gold bars. I might have hacked it open, though.

-I don't recall a circular room at all. Is it one of the tests, perhaps?

-The chessboard is like the one in BG: adds to the atmosphere.I think you can be attacked by a stone harpy there too.

-Where is this room with a coffin? I have the maps with me here. If you mean in a mountain, it may be mortegro's coffin, or possibly one of the many many Ophidian coffins.

-The red door is a portal to a Gargoyle temple, but since the gargoyles have started to go insane, they attack you.

The 'Circular Room' I think is the place where the murdered automaton wound up being dumped. I got in there via hack mover and resurrected it by using the Create Automaton spell, and got it to identify the murderer.

As far as I remember, you don't have to hack your way in. There are one or two secret doorways which you need to walk through to reach the automaton.

You could always attack the chest and break it.
I normally do this, but some chests are invincible.

Is there a cheat in Exult that will unlock an invincible chest like this? IIRC in the original Ultima VII you could hit alt-4 and empty anything (including NPCs) of it's contents.

You can Ctrl-D (delete) the chest. That'll leave the contents behind on the floor.

Or you could still just hit it...

Completely at east of the map (for the coffins). It's not on the regular map...You must be etheral to go there
