Horse & Cart, inn, shipwright

Post by Gerry »

Greetings!

Whilst playing Ultima 7 BG using the original engine, I noticed the following differences with Exult:

- In Exult, the legs of the horses pulling your cart sometimes seem to get 'stuck', i.e., their movement is not animated although the cart keeps moving; I did not notice this happening in 'U7 DOS'.

- In U7 DOS, the innkeeper in Trinsic spends a lot of time busying herself in the kitchen (basically she puts stuff like pans and beer on the two tables). In Exult, she appears to limit her activities to walking in and out of the kitchen, sometimes stopping at one of the tables. More or less the same thing applies to the shipwright in Trinsic: whereas in U7 DOS he spends a lot of time strutting around, messing with seals and paper, in Exult it seems he just can't get himself to leave his desk.

I hope these remarks are helpful,

Best wishes & thanks,

Gerry

N.B.:

I am running the latest 1.1 snapshot on a Pentium II @ 267 Mhz, with 2.5 megs of video RAM.

1. I've seen the horse problem. It's irritating, but I haven't yet found what's causing it.

2. Schedules had to be completely written from scratch in Exult, and they're not always exact duplicates of the original. At some point, we may improve them.
