Question about Serpent Isle

Hi I'm new here, though I'm a long time Ultima fan especially Ultima 7 and 8.
I've always tought there are many strange things about Serpent Isle, like those useless items in skullcrusher aside from the flux analyser and the philanderer’s friend, and why they kill almost all the people in the towns that make it very hard to buy items and spells, etc... And Yesterday a friend of mine who's a fellow Ultima fan told me that there is an original plot for SI which has a better storyline and that the Exult team are planning a project to recreate SI with this original plot, but when I enter the site there's no news about such project. So I was wondering wether this project is true or my friend was just lying?
From some posts that I've read so far I only found out that there is really an original plot of SI about Moonshade and Monitor (but none about Fawn) which are very interesting, but I only found an unclear and small hint about the project, is it the the one that Wizardry Dragon is talking about? I'm so confused here...
Thanks!
